One scientist argues 2036 could be point of no return for climate disaster
Fri Mar 21, 2014
Let's face it: It's already too late. All of the fossil fuel we can dig up, we are going to burn, and probably most of it in the next 50 years. Even with extreme reductions in burn rate, we would only stave off the inevitable for a decade or so. A decade delay makes no difference. …
Retailers want banks to issue 'smart' credit cards to fight fraud
Wed Jan 22, 2014
Why would we switch to a 20-year-old security system that European fraudsters already know how to hack? Can't we find something better than pin-and-chip? If we are going to switch systems, lets invent a new system that actually identifies people and not account numbers -- biometrics.
Conservatives: Voting Rights Act fix discriminates against whites
Thu Jan 30, 2014
It seems that the bill does descriminate against whites, just in a very narrow way. Why bother to put "non-white" in the bill at all if it is so narrow? Why not just take that out and apply the same rules to whites and non-whites alike? The 14th amendment requires equal protection …
Head injuries clearly linked to brain damage
Thu Aug 29, 2013
Most concussions occur on high speed collisions during open field tackles and pass receptions. Quarterbacks, wide receivers and defensive backs suffer the most concussions. I think a rule change that would reduce concussions would be to require defenders to wrap up during tackles.   …
'It's degrading': Bankrupt New England mill town offers Detroit a bleak preview

I've never really understood the logic of pensions, not having that option myself. The only retirement savings I have is what I put into my 401K. A pension sounds nice but obviously you can't rely on it to be there when you need it.
Washington fire, EMS reviewing protocols after firefighters appear with Obama
Fri Feb 22, 2013
Does your employer know you are commenting here? Do they approve of your comments? If not, you are doing the same thing these firefighters have done.
Pistorius bail hearing in chaos as lead detective is axed from case

Stop the pop-over ads please! I can't read the article.
Horse slaughtering legal in US, but public won't bite
Sat Feb 16, 2013
The most shocking thing in this article is this line which seems to indicate that Congress actually DID something in 2011: "In November 2011, Congress quietly lifted a five-year ban on funding for horse processing inspections." So the 112th actually managed to pass something! Too bad they couldn't …
Folic acid in pregnancy may reduce autism risk
Tue Feb 12, 2013
This is not a very definitive study. Only 0.21% of one population had autism and 0.1% of the other. It is margin of error stuff.
McCain won't participate in Hagel walk out
Mon Feb 11, 2013
What's the deal with the pop-over ad? Is it just me or is there a really annoying pop-over ad that blocks part of the article? Not cool.
